Well hellooooo there. Nice to see you back. Or is it your first time here? It doesn’t matter — I’m just glad you’re here.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Jonathan Waite, and I am the project manager for ARGFest-o-Con 2011. I have been an active member of the ARGFest Directing Committee since 2008, and have attended the fest-cons in New York, San Francisco, Boston, Portland and Atlanta. It is an honor to be heading up the network of volunteers that shape ARGFest, and I know that the event we plan in 2011 will continue in the tradition of past ARGFests — fun, exciting events attended by players, creators and everyone in between!
So how do you like the new digs? We’ve done some major renovation at the web site here, and for the first time we’ve integrated a social media aspect to the site. We know that ARGFests are as much social occasions as they are networking opportunities, and so we hope that we can get the festivities started early here on the site. You have the opportunity to create your own profile, connect with others, and discuss things related to ARGFest here on the site by clicking the Community link at the top of every page. We’re very happy with the functionality, and hopefully all of you early adopters of this new system help us out by alerting us to issues that come up with regular use of the site. You can do that by sending a message to @admin.
If it suits you better, we also offer Facebook and Twitter connections that will link an account here with your accounts there. This is an easy way to create an account and get active here on the official home of ARGFest-o-Con 2011!
Soon, we will be announcing a sort of “annual general meeting” where you can get involved with the planning of the 2011 event, so keep watching this site for details on that, as well as other important updates. We’re also on Facebook and Twitter for your viewing pleasure. Talk to you all very, very soon!
